#1 - Settled in 1864 and again in 1867 by Mormon families sent over Cedar Mtn. from Parowan by Brigham Young.  Panguitch means "Big Fish" in the Piuite language.

#2 - Hundreds of red brick homes and commercial buildings are the result of the town's early efforts to support itself by making bricks from local red clay.

#4 - All American Highway 12 starts just 7 miles outside of Panguitch.

#8 -  John D. Lee, another infamous character, is buried in the Panguitch Cemetary.  Praised for his establishment of Lee's Ferry across the Colorado River and many other good works settling the area, he was later villified for his role in the Mountain Meadow Massacre.
